Gasoline Taxes Vs. Exxon Profit, Per Gallon -
Let’s assume this is true…local, state and US governments are making about 49 cents per gallon sold. And if my other source (the INTERNET lol) is true, the US consumes roughly 400 MILLION gallons of gas per day. So, math…$196 million in taxes every day. $71.54 trillion in taxes annually…just from gasoline? SOOOOOOooooo….if our annual federal budget is about $13 trillion… and even if every state had a $1 trillion budget…we’d still be okay to the tune of about $8 trillion annually?
Surely I’m missing a lot here, but it seems like it shouldn’t be that hard.
